  Position Overview  

Maranatha Christian Academy is seeking a committed Christian educat ional leader who lives, works, and teaches from a b iblical worldview. This teaching role  is responsible for planning, implementing and assessing an appropriate educational program for the students assigned to his/her class, and following the guidelines of the school-approved curriculum and course of study.  

This position will be teaching three sections of 9 Grade Triumph of Christ  & three sections of 10 grade Bible Doctrine.   

Job Duties & Responsibilities :  

General Respon si bilities  

• Generally responsible to present with appropriate methods and preparedness the prescribed curriculum or course of study to assigned students. 
• Records, class observations, parent conferences or appropriate evaluation instruments, assess each student's strengths and weaknesses academically, emotionally, and spiritually to best meet student needs. 
• Promote the educational goals as stated in the teachers' manual within the educational context of the classroom.   
• Maintain a well-disciplined, pleasant, and stimulating classroom environment conducive to optimum participation in reaching spiritual and educational goals.  
• Provide for the spiritual growth of the students with evangelical endeavors including prayer and counsel. In Bible classes, students will participate in a project of practical Christian ministry.
• Prepare and submit weekly lesson plans. Lessons should also include the integration of biblical concepts and principles on a consistent basis.   
• Develop units of study as needed and maintain proper documentation to augment and contribute to the evolution of an ever-growing and improving curriculum.   
• Be prompt to class and maintain the daily schedule, "redeeming the time."   
• Fulfill extra duty assignments in the supervising of students.   
• Aid custodial and maintenance personnel by training students to keep floors and room free from litter and chairs off the floor after school when necessary.   
• Maintain appropriate student records, including attendance, grades, discipline, and spiritual growth.   
• Provide proactive communication and d evelop a positive rapport with parents , keeping them apprised of classroom expectations and activities or problems that may arise with their children.   
• Provide for the safekeeping and accounting of all classroom textbooks and supplies.   
• Submit a completed end-of-the-year report to the principal that will include an inventory of books, classroom furniture, and equipment stating needs for new material.   
• Sign out all classroom supplies from central stores using proper procedures.   
• Plan for and make effective use of assigned classroom volunteers or student aides.  
• Perform all administrative tasks (grading, grade entry, lesson planning, etc.) promptly.  
• Demonstrate collegiality through good communication and teamwork.  
• Facilitate concurrent enrollment credit with partnering universities.  
• Serve the number of days in the official school calendar, perform other duties assigned by the administration, and participate in essential academy promotion, communication and community-building events as identified .  
• Sponsor student activities beyond the classroom and other duties as assigned by the administration. Each teacher is expected to be involved in one area of student life involvement. Assignments will be discussed with as much advance notice as possible to consider impact on the workload, possible compensation , and other responsibilities (work/life balance) of the assignee.  
• Update Curriculum Trak and Scope and Sequence as needed.  
• Participate in elementary faculty meetings and professional development as requested .  
• Participate in faculty devotions, 1 st year MCA teacher mentorship, and special functions to promote Christian fellowship and mutual support.  

  Curricular Responsibilities  

Curriculum Development : Design and implement a rigorous Bible curriculum aligned with school standards, focusing on biblical literacy, theology, and application for 11th and 12th graders.  

Lesson Planning : Create engaging lesson plans that explore biblical texts, historical context, and theological concepts, fostering critical thinking and spiritual growth.  

Text Study : Guide students through in-depth analysis of biblical books, including Old and New Testaments, emphasizing themes, literary styles, and cultural contexts.  

Theological Instruction : Teach key theological doctrines and ethical principles, encouraging students to articulate and evaluate their beliefs in relation to scripture.  

Comparative Analysis : Facilitate discussions comparing biblical teachings with contemporary issues, world religions, or philosophical perspectives to deepen understanding.  

Research and Writing : Assign and guide students in research projects, essays, or presentations that explore biblical scholarship, apologetics, or practical applications of faith.  

Assessment Design : Develop assessments, such as quizzes, reflective journals, and analytical papers, to evaluate students’ comprehension and ability to apply biblical principles.  

Differentiated Instruction : Adapt lessons to accommodate diverse learning needs, including varying levels of biblical knowledge and spiritual backgrounds, ensuring an inclusive classroom.  

Discussion Facilitation : Lead Socratic seminars or group discussions to encourage respectful dialogue, critical inquiry, and personal reflection on biblical texts.  

Integration of Technology : Incorporate digital resources, such as online biblical commentaries or multimedia presentations, to enhance engagement and understanding.  

Cross-Curricular Connections : Collaborate with teachers of literature, history, or ethics to integrate biblical perspectives into broader academic discussions.  

Spiritual Mentorship : Foster a classroom environment that supports students’ spiritual development, encouraging them to explore faith questions and personal values.  

Standards Compliance : Ensure curriculum aligns with school or denominational educational standards, preparing students for advanced theological studies or personal faith journeys.  

Qualifications & Requirements  

Master’s degree in biblical content preferred  

Qualify as a concurrent enrollment teacher with partnering colleges/universities  

ACSI Teacher Certification is required within the two years at Maranatha  

Physical Requirements
